Pomposa with a filter
Can an entire abbey be dressed? The climate of Pomposa does it with the enveloping and diffuse cloak of fog.

The fog that veils the Po Valley in its winter and autumn landscapes is nothing more than the condensation of water vapour molecules of microscopic dimensions. The cold mass moves downwards, descending the 100 to 200 metres that separate it from the warmer soil and water, progressively cooling. The particles near the surface thicken into heavy filaments, fade and occupy the surrounding area with their characteristic greyness and impalpable consistency. Facilitated by low wind conditions and the resulting stagnation of air masses, fog banks can last for days. Everything and everyone is immersed in this watery scent that bathes lightly, thinly and yet densely. Should one try to stretch out a hand and try to reveal what is covered by that leaden mantle, we will have nothing more than a damp palm (or feathers).
