Destination Pomposa. Who wants a ride?

12 July 2021

Focus on architecture, art, archaeology, the ambient (human, natural, historical, cultural)… and, outside the thick walls of the Abbey, the Archives! An archive with a capital A.
We think of time as a straight line to be followed in order to put order into a chain of events, but if we look around, it is difficult to distinguish the traces in the variety of their signs. Perhaps it is better to start from the details in order to reconstruct and read a whole, in a retrieval always in progress, because the qualities of a territory emerge through the progressive sum of its many details.
Value and in progress are the two essential elements around which the contributions in these pages revolve. Not just one value, not just one form of culture, but many forms and many values, which increase every time history progresses, discovering something of the past.
Pomposa in progress is one of the actions promoted by the European project Value, to enhance territories with a strong cultural characterization.
Value stands for EnVironmental And cuLtUralhEritage development, development of environmental and cultural heritage, including all its links on both sides of the sea.
Pomposa has been in the course of history and still remains today a point where many realities are intertwined, first of all the current Municipality of Codigoro within whose administrative boundaries lies the Abbey and which is responsible for the enhancement of the monumental complex, whose religious relevance belongs to the Archdiocese of Ferrara – Comacchio.
Partners of the Value project are the Municipality of Comacchio (leader), the Regional Natural Park of Veneto of the Po Delta, the Veneto Region, the Emilia Romagna Region, the Local Action Group DELTA 2000, the Croatian cities of Kaštela, Cres and Korčula.
The same project includes the creation of an Open Air archaeological park with the reconstruction of dwellings of the ancient Etruscan city of Spina.
All that remains is to explore, explore, explore… Short stories and extended, microscopic and choral stories are waiting to be read.
